ONE EARTH is on a mission to create and evaluate innovative bio-based solutions. Our goal is to build sustainable, integrated circular value chains. By  valorizing marine biomass for terrestrial products and using terrestrial biomass for aquaculture, we’re promoting a sustainable and self reinforcing carbon cycle We’re focused on producing nutraceuticals, cosmetics, bioadhesives, fertilizers, and fish feed by harnessing residual animal biomass.

We’re excited to be transforming specific residual biomasses, primarily using biotechnological strategies, to extract polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and polypeptides for use in nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and fish feeds

A key part of the ONE EARTH project involves turning cheese whey—the most abundant liquid waste from dairy industries—into valuable volatile fatty acids (VFAs) through anaerobic acidogenic fermentation. These VFAs will then serve as a carbon source for culturing microbial strains to produce PUFAs.

The ONE EARTH project consortium consists of 14 partners from Italy, Spain, Croatia, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Germany, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
